Application:
Due to several advantages Hexagon flange bolts are used instead of ordinary bolts combined with washers:
- the material of the bolt and the washer / flange / implanted to the head have got the same strength and hardness
- the bolt prevents the loosening of the joined parts as a result of the microdeformations occurring in the joined surfaces, by reducing the contact surfaces in the joint. This effect is particularly noticeable in bolted joints where the ratio of bolt length to thread diameter is small. As a result, joints can become loose even though they are secured to self-tapping. Flange bolts reduce this effect;
- it prevents the slip effect when tightening and as a result the tightening moment relative to the tension of the bolt remains constant;
- it prevents eccentric loading of bolted joints, which occurs in some cases when washers are used;
- it is used in productions in which the moment of tightening is controlled when bolted joints are tightened. This is the most widely used method of controlling clamping force.
